Ugh, Its been awhile.

Gearing up for Fourth of July and prepping for a wedding and all is exhausting and I have had some difficulty getting time on the computer but here I am to brighten all of your days.

Dodgeball: The Movie

Another goofy Ben Stiller movie in the vein of Zoolander and Starsky and Hutch. If you liked either of them you will enjoy Dodgeball. I thought it was funny, but the best part was the face Julie made at me when it was all over. Yeah, this one's not quite the best date movie. Call a guys night out and watch this one. The acting was the usual over-the-top acting that accompanies Stiller's movies, the hot actors in this one are Stiller, his wife Christine Taylor, Vince Vaughn, Alan Tudyk (The Redheaded Friend in A Knight's Tale), Stephen Root (Milton in Office Space), and a few memorable celebrity cameos. Its just stupid funny, you should know whether or not that is appealing to you.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

I finally caught Terminator 3 and it was decent. Nothing spectacular, and surely not as good as its predecessor but enjoyable nonetheless. While the movie didn't fully delight me, I am hoping that the sequel friendly ending will finally give me what I wanted, the future battle between mankind and the robots which is always glimpsed in the first 3 movies. That is something I would like to see, just raw carnage and havok as humankind takes to the underground to rise up against the superior robots. The best part of this movie is that sequel possibility. The acting was kind of lame, Claire Danes was sufficient but wasn't extraordinary in any sense, and Arnold was his usual Cybernetic self. Nick Stahl was also kind of dull, and I would have rather had Edward Furlong return to play the character although he was probably in rehab or something. Watch it on HBO its on all the time, if not its a good renter.

Onimusha 3

I am still not very far into the game, roughly 3 hours, but it is going well. I am loving the variety of the game, and some minor RPG elements round out the delightful hack and slash action. If you liked Devil May Cry or games of that sort you will absolutely like this one. I will do a more thorough review someday, but since I play so seldom I thought occasional updates might help.

P.S. Jean Reno only voices his French Dialogue, when he speaks english its some Bum. I was disappointed, but nothing else has let me down thus far.

Onimusha 3

After over a month of waiting I finally put Onimusha 3 in my PS2 and it was amazing...for about 5 minutes. Then I got interupted, and have yet to be able to return to it. But I will tell you that you could purchase this game just to watch the intro movie. Holy Crap. I honestly did only play for 5 minutes and I died, due to my inability to figure out the buttons in time. A large creature with a giant flail crushed me to death. I plan on making another go at it tonight, and hopefully will be able to give you more after I delve deeper into the game, but all signs are pointing towards deliciousness.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

If I mispelled Azkaban I apologize. I snuck out to the movies on Saturday with Julie and caught the ever elusive Harry Potter (we were denied the prior week). I have greatly enjoyed the previous movies and if you did as well than I believe you will be equally thrilled by this one. If you did not like the first two but for some reason are still watching them, you may like the third installment better because some of the elements have changed. Harry is more mature and so are the themes in the movie, it isn't as simple as it has been before. The mood of the movie is darker, while at the same time the humor has been heightened somewhat to balance. Julie noted that the scenery and layout of Hogwarts has changed and I think I caught some of that too, and I don't know why they opted to change things up however it is largely trivial. The only part of the movie that I disliked was the portrayal of the snotty Malfoy. He was reduced to the lowest level of pathetic bully, who cried as much as he insulted in the movie. I feel that the conflicts to come between Harry and his friends and him will be lessened greatly by his flagrant cowardice. All in all, delightful and another movie I will purchase upon its release.

For sake of accountability, I would like to point out that it has been over a month since CJ updated his blog. He has flirted with this crime before but this is the first time I think that he has committed it. I won't say anything about Chris because he knows and is brazen about it.

This week was rather light on the movie watching. I sought to see the new Harry Potter with my Fiance but we were stopped at the door when our showing sold out. So next Saturday we should be able to attend and then you can expect a review. I finally talked my parents into watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, however since I only own the Extended Editions I had to tread carefully. I decided to subject them to half of each movie at a time, for the increased chance that they would retain enough of it to continue and not fall asleep. We finished the Fellowship of the Ring, and this week should see us through the Two Towers. I never cease to enjoy these movies, and if you have yet to see the Extended editions you should. It contains just enough additional backstory and development to give you a whole new appreciation of the movies.

I also saw the conclusion to the Sopranos, which was good. I started watching this season because my parents are big HBO fans. They usually watch Six Feet Under and the Sopranos, and if they are still awake they watch Deadwood. I don't really enjoy Six Feet Under, but the Sopranos and Deadwood are both very intriguing. I won't say anything about the Sopranos because I am so late getting on that bus its embarassing. But I will be seeking to view the previous seasons. As for Deadwood, it is a bleak show much like the Sopranos but it does have its heroic and noble characters. The characters are better explored than on the Sopranos, where only Tony really seems to be examined at depth. Deadwood is full of people who I would like to see more of, and each episode just seems to build curiosity on how they think and operate. I have been catching the show more erratically and as we speak I am missing a new episode although they will probably repeat it 3-4 times this week.

I am still waiting on Onimusha 3 and Seven Samurai 20XX with as much anticipation as you all are awaiting my reviews of them, I should receive them any day and reviews of at least one (Onimusha I'm sure) will come quickly.

Something the Lord Made the HBO original movie was pretty good. I am a huge fan of both Alan Rickman and Mos Def so I enjoyed perhaps more than you all would, but it is a good spirit lifting movie. I might have tweaked a few things, but its hard to be too critical of a movie that is based on true life, like when Mos Def's character often runs off when he gets pissed instead of dealing with it. It kind of got old, but if that's what the real man did, what can you do? It was decent and if you have HBO and catch it on, keep it on.

Now I am off to bed, I am rather sick and I am hoping a healthy dose of Nyquil will set things right for this week.
