Season 2 of 24 and Season 3 of The Family Guy both hit stores today
...and my apartment has both.

Season 1 of 24 is basically a smooth suspenseful 16 hour movie. Keifer Sutherland is on top of his game again and the supporting cast is mixed with skilled new faces and some wonderful cameos (Lou Diamond Phillips, Dennis Hopper). This show is a drug, I showed my friend the first two episodes and then he stayed up and watched the first 20 episodes before passing out. You need to see the first season, I'll tell you later if the second season is as sweet.

The Family Guy is pound for pound funnier and edgier than The Simpsons, which few people will admit because the Simpsons is like the Holy Star Wars trilogy of the TV world. But honestly, there are lots of Simpsons episodes and seasons that aren't that funny, and Family Guy has had few misses. Sadly though, Family was canceled after 3 seasons, although stellar sales of the DVD set may spawn a movie.
